Aly Shalaby

Chairman of the Board

Chairman Mr. Shalaby, a career banker, was head of international retail banking at QNB HQ, where he designed and oversaw the implementation of the bank’s expansion strategy in new markets. Before joining QNB, Mr. Shalaby worked for four years as General Manager at Gulf Bank in Kuwait, where he was responsible for marketing, products and segments, sales and distribution, SMEs, consumer lending and credit cards business. He successfully turned the bank’s consumer banking business into a profitable and growing one on both the assets and liabilities sides. Prior to that, Mr. Shalaby served at National Bank of Kuwait, starting off in 1988 as a Regional Manager in the consumer banking group before being promoted to General Manager in 2003. He has served on the boards of Al Watany Bank of Egypt and Banque du Caire and was a global board member in an international credit card multinational organization. He is currently sitting on the board of Al Oula Real Estate Finance Company and is a corporate member with the AmCham Egypt. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, Boston m. and holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the American University in Cairo.

Youssef El Shorafy

Chief Executive Office Omega Capital  Co-founder and Managing Partner of Omega Capital, a private equity firm established in Egypt in 2015. In 2012, Mr. El Shorafy co-founded Catalyst Partners, an investment firm focused on SMEs. One of his successes was to transform a snacks manufacturing company, from shutdown mode into a profitable operation that is now on a steep growth curve.    In 2007, Mr. El Shorafy had also co-founded Mega Investments Holding, a fully owned brokerage house. He played a major role in formulating the firm’s strategy, eventually creating one of Egypt's highest quality equity and brokerage providers.   Mr. El Shorafy started his career in 2005, he worked with Naeem Holding, a regional investment bank in both Cairo and Dubai, where he developed a thorough understanding of MENA markets through his responsibilities in multiple jurisdictions. He is also a Board Member in Marseilia For Real Estate Investment, which is one of Omega Capital portfolio companies. Mr. El Shorafy is also a Board Member in Mega Investments Holding & Taameer for Real Estate Fund Management, which is a EGP 1 billion fund and the first REIT fund introduced to the Egyptian market. Mr. El Shorafy graduated from Cairo University with a bachelor's degree in Economics and minoring in Public Administration. He has attended a series of professional investment programs at London Business School and is a member of the Egyptian Junior Business Association and the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

Mohamed Lotfy Soliman

Director Mr. Soliman is co-CEO of Egypt-based Lord International, one of the world's top five razor manufacturers. Lord was on the edge of bankruptcy and could not afford paying its employees. During Mr Soliman’s tenure, Lord has expanded its global reach to 75 countries, including Europe. Mr. Soliman established a machinery and spare parts factory in Egypt to supply Lord and other clients in the razor manufacturing. The facility, Egypt's first, used a reverse engineering and complete design approach. He later used skills gained in energy management to expand into power solar energy projects. He is a member of the board in a number of companies, including Soliman Holding Group, Solik Real Estate Investments and Sun Infinite Energy. He is a firm believer in industrial specialization and operational excellence to nurture and develop Omega Capital investments. Mr Soliman earned an MBA from Cardiff University and a bachelor's degree in industrial management engineering from the Arab Academy of Science and Technology.

Arafat Sakr

Director Mr. Sakr serves as CEO of the Industrial Engineering Company for Construction Development (ICON) and a board member at Acrow Misr, Mega Investments Holding and Sun Infinite Energy. He developed the management system at ICON, where he has been CEO since 2002, turning the distressed company and its subsidiary Acrow Misr  into the top 10 formwork and scaffolding companies in the world. The companies were losing their competitive edge and their cost competitiveness and with Mr. Arafat’s turnaround strategy which focused on product innovation, diversification and geographic expansion, the companies have a combined top line of EGP 700m and a bottom line of EGP 100m. In 1998, Mr. Sakr established Nile Investments Securities Company, where he was executive director. He succeeded in growing the company and eventually selling it to Naeem Holding for EGP 300m. He graduated from Alexandria University's Faculty of Commerce (English Section) in 1996.

Nabeel Al Kady

Director Mr. Al Kady is the Ex-head of corporate strategy at Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim Holding, where he is responsible for charting the group's investment decisions, including the geographies and industries into which it will expand.  Mr. Al Kady previously held a similar position at Oracle Systems, where he was responsible for the Middle East and Africa. A seasoned strategy consultant, he has served as an associate at McKinsey and Booz Allen’s Middle East offices. Mr. Al Kady has a passion for entrepreneurship and continues to invest in and start up new ventures. He has been a director on a diverse set of boards and is a Middle East mentor for Endeavor. An Engineer by training, Mr. Al Kady earned an MBA at Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in computer engineering at McGill University in Montreal.

Abdulgalil Besher

Abdulgalil Besher is Managing Director of MAC Beverages Group, a privately owned group with investments in the beverages and packaging sectors in the MENA region, primarily in Egypt, but also Yemen & Libya. Abdulgalil Besher holds a Masters Degree in Architecture and began his career as General Manager of City Planning, in The Ministry of Works in Sanaa, Yemen. In 1976 he joined the family business and participated in the growth of the trading unit of the Group, where he gained extensive experience in trading soft commodities (primarily sugar and petroleum products). In 1984 he moved to London to head the trading division of the family. group. In 1989 he was promoted to head the beverage and packaging group’s Egyptian assets, and in 1993 he engineered the joint venture of the beverage interests with The Coca-Cola Company upon the privatization of the soft drinks bottling assets of the Government of Egypt. He was appointed Chairman, in 1994, of The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Egypt, and is also Chairman of the Yemen and Libyan beverages investments. He is a member of the board of trustees of The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation. Abdulgalil Besher is Chairman of Middle East Glass Manufacturing Company (MEG), a company listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange and which is the leading supplier of container glass and PET to the food and beverage sector in the region. Abdulgalil Besher is an active member of the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

Shafik Gabr

Mohamed Shafik Gabr serves as the Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of ARTOC Group for Investment & Development. Mr. Gabr served as the Managing Director of Emaar Misr, a subsidiary of ARTOC Group for Investment & Development. In 1993, he was chosen by the World Economic Forum as Global Leader for Tomorrow. He founded Egypt's International Economic Forum in January 1999 and serves as its Chairman. He served as Vice Chairman of Emaar Misr. Mr. Gabr serves as an Executive Board Member of International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. He served as a Director of the Egyptian Businessmen's Association from 1996 to 1998. He serves as Chairman of the Boards of Egyptian Center for Economic Studies. He serves on the Boards of In Egypt. He serves as International Counselor of The Conference Board, Chairman of Prince of Wales Business Leaders Forum and COMESA Business Council, and World Bank's Council of Advisors for the MENA Region. He is also a Member of the Egyptian Businessmen's Association, serves on the Egypt-U.S. President’ Council and on the council of the World Economic Forum (Geneva). Mr. Gabr received his B.A. in Economics and Management from the American University in Cairo and an M.A. in Economics from the University of London.

Fathi El Sebai

Mr. Fathy El Sebai Mansour is Chairman of HDB and the Egyptian Arab Land Bank. Prior to his appointment the Housing & Development Bank was generating profits of EGP 15mn, in his capacity Mr. Sebai has increased these figures to EGP 600mn, through governance restructuring, installment of incentive plans for the management and creating and implementation of strategy. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Mansour was the Managing Director of Cairo International Bank from 2000-2002. Before that, he was Senior Vice President of the Arab Banking Corporation from 1997-2000.  From 1988-1997, Mr. Mansour was Deputy Executive Manager of Burgan Bank Kuwait. From 1985-1988 he was Senior Manager, Investments of the Saudi Investment Bank and from 1984-1985 he was Regional Manager of Jammal Trust Bank. In 1984, Mr. Mansour left Citibank as Resident Vice President after serving with Citibank Egypt since 1976. He graduated from the University of Alexandria in 1973, and received his M.A. in Banking Finance from Ashford University in 1991.

A well seasoned Professional Banker with almost 40 years experience with domestic and international banking with Citibank, Cairo Barclays, Misr Exterior and Suez Canal Bank. Has tangible achievements and in depth expertise in Change Management, Bank Restructuring, Corporate Finance, International Syndicated Loans and Structured Trade Finance. Worked in Cairo, London, Bahrain covering the Middle East & North Africa Regions, Turkey and Pakistan. Since December 2009, Mr. Rabbat has been the Member of the Board of the Housing & Development Bank in Egypt. Prior to this position he was the Chairman and Managing Director of Suez Canal Bank, Misr Exterior Bank and the Managing Director of Cairo Barclays Banks consecutively. Previously, Mr. Rabbat has spent 25 years of his banking career working for Citibank in Bahrain. His mandate was to reinstitute the name of Citibank in the Gulf region which he was able to accomplish with great success.

Today Mr. El Mofty is the President / CEO of Kuwait Food Company/Americana – a Leading a multi-billion organization, employing more than 50,000 people, present in 12 countries with more than 1500 restaurants and 17food processing companies. In his capacity as such Mr. El Mofti grew the business from $410 million in 1998 to $3.5 billion in 2015, acquired two large food companies in Egypt in dairy and snacks. He was also able to expand restaurant business beyond the Middle East and opened 50 restaurants in Kazakhstan. Additionally, Mr. El Mofty secured a number of new brands for the restaurants business including Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and The Counter. As a result of the 38 year journey of building and developing Americana the company was sold for $3.6Billion representing a 25 multiple of 2015 net income. Structured the FMCG organization in a manner to maximize focus and management ownership.

AbdelRahman Mansour

Senior Associate Mr. Mansour spent three years working as a consultant for a startup consulting firm providing sound business and financial solutions to small businesses, where he led in the successful turnaround of multiple companies in Canada & Latin America. He supported SME’s in successfully promoting them to investors where they achieved financing to grow their operations. He provided strategic management support and implementation for SME’s resulting in significant profit improvements. Mr Mansour earned an MBA and a bachelor's degree in finance from Concordia University. Specializes in complex financial modeling. 

Luyiza Yevhrafova

Financial Analyst

Financial Analyst Ms. Yevhrafova was an intern auditor trainee at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the risk assurance services department. She joined Omega Capital in 2015 and has researched and assessed multiple investment opportunities across FMCG, real estate and agri-business sectors. Her responsibilities included extensive market research, financial model development, managing the relationship with potential portfolio company management teams and presenting the assessment results to top level management. She graduated from the American University in Cairo with a bachelor's degree in accounting. While at university, Ms. Yevhrafova was a member of the Junior Enterprise Consulting Club, which aims to develop young entrepreneurs.

Mostafa Tahtawi

Head of Accounting Mr. Tahtawi was an associate acting as senior auditor at KPMG - Hazem Hassan, one of the big four auditing firms, for a period of almost three years. In his capacity he was responsible for conducting external audit services to multi-national companies across several industries such as Real estate, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Tele-communication and Exploration – Precious Metals. Prior to his appointment at KPMG, Mr. Tahtawi was holding an accountant position at ACE Life Insurance, in which he was responsible for several tasks such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury. He graduated from Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Mr. Mostafa Tahtawi has an IFRS diploma and is a CMA Candidate.

Ahmed Osman

Financial Analyst Mr. Osman joined Omega Capital in 2017and has assessed investment opportunities across FMCG and HealthCare. He was responsible for gathering the needed market data for proper and comprehensive due diligence process to present the output to the top-level management to make decisions. Previously, Mr. Osman was an intern analyst at EFG-Hermes in private equity department and an analyst intern at CI Capital in investment banking department. He graduated from the American University in Cairo with a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance and a double major in economics. Mr. Osman is a CFA level II candidate.
